Shelby found the Christmas section while we were waiting at the Farmhouse.

Name that car

Spa + Eau Rouge = :)

There is nothing like seeing the smile on a F1 drivers face when asked at Spa Francorchamps, "will Eau Rouge be easy flat this year?"  Thank you Peter Windsor for one of the best driver interviews in F1 this year.  Oh - and thank you DVR for storing it till I have time to watch my F1 in peace.

Don't know Eau Rouge?  Click here.  Or here.  Or here.  Or watch my favorite driver Kimi Raikkonen in 2007 do it his way.  This corner features 5g's of compression on your body & 4 lateral g's all at 190mph.  Eat your heart out NASCAR, NHRA, etc. etc. etc.  I don't think there is much in the world that can compare to this.  Well maybe that white spaceship thing that goes to the moon.  But those only have 3 wheels.

Easy flat eh?  Not without another pair of undertrunks.

It was a great drive home.

I tried keeping up with this black SGT as I smelled high octane fumes from its modified exhaust system.  The sound and smell of this car got me a bit worried as I headed west for the day.  The driver confirmed that in fact I should be worried as I watched his license plate get smaller. Very quickly.  Hmmm.  I'm gunna have to work on that.

Shelby lowering price of $20k GT500KR hood after web outrage erupts

Shelby lowering price of $20k GT500KR hood after web outrage erupts: "

Shelby GT500KR - Click above for high-res image gallery

When we drove the Shelby GT500KR at Miller Motorsports Park last May, we were impressed with the steps that Ford and Shelby had taken to make its new King of the Road a special vehicle. Not only was the KR a huge improvement over the GT500 (which led to the development of the 2010 GT500), but the car featured trick items like a carbon fiber hood and lightweight wheels wrapped with R-compound tires. At that time, Shelby also proudly told us that none of the KR-specific parts would be available for sale separately to ensure that owners of lesser Mustangs could not make shadetree replicas that might compromise the KR's image. Of course, all of this exclusivity and performance came at a price: $79,995 to be exact.

$18,400 for a new hood, $3,392.50 for a front spoiler, and $632.50 for a set of hood pins

Unfortunately, as one GT500KR owner has learned the hard way, replacement parts for this pony car can be surprisingly dear. After an unfortunate incident with a critter on the road resulted in a modestly damaged front end, the owner in question was shocked to learn about the high cost of his vehicle's replacement parts. And as is increasingly the way these days, he aired his displeasure on the web. That initial report has since touched off a firestorm in the online Shelby community, with the issue spreading to numerous forums and chat rooms.

So just why were these replacement parts such a contentious issue? In the main, it's a numbers thing. As in $18,400 for a new hood, $3,392.50 for a front spoiler, and even $632.50 for a set of hood pins, among other things. Further, the disgruntled owner informed a forum member that Shelby requires any damaged KR parts to be returned to their facility in Las Vegas before new replacements can be sent out.

Obviously, a bit of due diligence was needed to verify the claimed replacement pricing and parts return policy, so we got on the phone with Jim Owens, vice president of marketing and communications at Shelby to get the straight scoop. Click through to the jump to hear what we learned.

Up for sale is what I consider the best car audio processor ever made.

I'm not happy selling it, but I've decided to take the KISS route for the next version of my install.

It has a brand new display that I managed to source from Europe. Alpine doesnt have the displays anymore in the US.

The chasis has some scratches on it (that's how I bought it) and it's been pampered since I got it.

My new "Berg" steering wheel emblem :)

My new "Berg" steering wheel emblem :): "OK, spent a little time on my FIRST official mod to my sgt, and pretty happy with the results... here's some pics of the process:

Recieved the emblem a couple days ago:

First, I masked off the area around the emblem so I could hopefully avoid f-ing it all up...

popped the old emblem off, easy, but really bent the hell out of it...

exposed the ribbing that previously supported the aluminum emblem (and hopefully isn't structural to the airbag assembly...)

used a razor blade to shave it down flush, i suspect there's better options for tools to do this, but patience and a razor was fine...

took off my protective tape, and ran a tape line to help line up the lettering on the new emblem...

only used the pass. side adhesive that was on the back of the emblem, which i asked to just be a ring of 3m tape, and added a bit of 1 min. epoxy to that same side to really bond it to the airbag material... I'm really unsure of where exactly the bag tears, but fairly certain that by bonding the emblem to only the passenger side, it should operate just fine AND not go flying off the material into my (or a passengers) body somehow... i got lucky and it lined up good the first time i pressed it on, not sure if it would have come back off to try again!

and FINALLY, how it looks all done!

Brondes Ford Midgets Ad - Click above to watch the video after the break

Today's Funny Car Commercial of the Day comes from Brondes Ford, which just so happens to hail from this particular blogger's home town of Toledo, Ohio - a city that is best known in automotive circles as the home of Jeep and the Dana Corporation. Judging by this commercial, Brondes Ford may hold the top spot in Northwest Ohio when it comes to funny dealership advertisements.

Anyone from Toledo will recognize the saying, 'There goes another one...', and the phrase is hijacked here by Brondes. In this advertisement, though, the catchy jingle takes on a completely new meaning that involves midgets, cannons and a distinct lack of political correctness. Got your interest piqued? Click past the break to watch the video and visit veryfunnyads.com for more funny car commercials. Warning: Video autoplays.

REPORT: Spa-Francorchamps circuit nearly has racing revoked license until 2026

REPORT: Spa-Francorchamps circuit nearly has racing revoked license until 2026: "

Seems like every day brings something new in Formula 1, and lately none of it's been good. Now we hear that our absolute favorite track on the calendar, Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit, is on the brink of having its license stripped for - get this - 17 years.

Why? Because residents didn't appreciate that high-octane wailing brought on by the F1 circus, so the local Council of State instructed the circuit to conduct an environmental impact study. From the sounds of it, someone tried to get the study done the night before it was due, because the Council found it 'seriously inadequate and incomplete.' Instead of issuing a simple detention, the Council said 'No race for you!' until, *gulp,* 2026.

Thankfully, Spa's director, Pierre-Alain Thibault, now says that 'the situation has changed' since the original noise complaint was filed, that the circuit has worked with residents and lowered the decibels. Next year's race is provisionally scheduled for August 29, which gives Thibault a fair bit of time to talk to residents and challenge the Council's actions. A day's wrangling has given the circuit some breathing room to address all of the legal issues before it is officially closed, but it looks like they gotta lotta 'splainin' to do before they can guarantee a 2010 race. For the sake of F1 race fans everywhere, we hope Eau Rouge isn't taken from us. Hat tip to Ryan.

Mustang's, Challenger's, Camaro's oh my!

Mustang's, Challenger's, Camaro's oh my!: "The first professional road race with these three cars together in many, many years will be held the weekend of 10/2-10/4 at Virginia International Raceway. The Mustangs have proven strong for the past many years in Koni Challenge GS racing and are currently leading in the Championship. Blackforest racing is returning with their Challenger after many months of testing and are looking strong. Stevenson motorsports are debuting the 2010 Sunoco Camaro with drivers David Donohue and Jeff Buchnum who's fathers drove Sunoco Camaros in the championship 1969 Trans-Am season, exactly 40 years ago. Should be quite the historic race. This race is really preparation for Camaro teams for the 2010 Championship. Blackforest is also looking to run two cars in the 2010 season, so should be really exciting for Koni GS racing starting in January. Can't wait to get pictures of these three cars together next weekend!
